Here was the New England Building, nowadays the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services. The building's listing in the Kansas Historic Resources Inventory mentions its "opaque transoms" but does not speculate as to whether they've always been salmon-colored.

It was funny to look at the yellowish-brown bricks and say "let's pair that with panels of salmon."

By "funny" I don't mean to say I dislike it.

A view looking south from midway in the 200 block of N. Yates St. in downtown Ashland. N. Yates and W. Editor Streets are the two main commercial streets in the Village of Ashland.
