Original Orange

Back in Time at Johnny Cullen’s Hill! The Irish Rail 201 Class #220 rocks its retro orange livery like it’s 1994 all over again—fresh from North Wall Freight Yard with Church Road’s red bricks stealing the show.

Many a gricer have hung over this wall on Johnny Cullens Hill over the years, so this is like a throwback to the 90's.

Easy Peeler

Throwback vibes with a twist of irony! Here’s the General Motors Class 071 engine, rocking its retro orange livery like it’s straight out of the 80s—back when CIE trains were basically Ireland’s version of a tangerine dream.

This beauty was spotted on engineering workings, which, let’s be honest, most commuters loathe for the delays (sorry, Karen, you’ll get to work… eventually). But for us train nerds? It’s a rare treat to see this nostalgic beast in action, hauling history down the tracks.

Who needs a time machine when you’ve got this orange slice of the past chugging along—disrupting schedules and stealing hearts since the 70s!

Grimaldii Lines "Grande Lagos ", one of their worldwide co-ro ship, which 10 years ago were regular visitors to Dublin, usually on a monthly basis.

These co-ro ships criss cross the world, visiting various ports, capable of carrying all sorts of products, from containers to roll on vehicles, self sufficent with their own cranes & ramps.

At this time, a niche market was found to bring scrap & end of life cars & trucks from Ireland to Nigeria until it fell foul with customs regulations. It was good while it lasted & some great photo opportunities.

Grande Lagos is seen assisted above by Dublin Port tug Shackleton on departure.

From Dublin dockers to Dublin developments

Dublin Bus is delighted to announce Route 53a, which will be added to our network from Monday, 8 July 2019.

Route 53a will operate Monday to Friday between Talbot Street and Sheriff Street Upper, serving Gardiner Street, Summerhill, Portland Row, Seville Place, Sheriff Street Upper, Castleforbes Road, North Wall Quay and East Wall Road.

"With five departures in each direction, Route 53a links key north inner city locations, extending the choice of route options for customers in that area."

Route 53A previously operated as part of route 53, serving North Wall to Alexander Road, a hark back to the many dockers who worked in the area. The area has completely transformed from the days of ships being manually unloaded to a scene of high rise appartments for a new era of Dubliners.

Clontarf Garage EV 11, Enviro400 is seen at the 53A terminus on Sheriff Street Upper.
