They say that at the last ray of sunset, a mermaid can choose to abandon her tail and walk on the sand as a woman… but only under one condition: to offer two starfish to the shore, as a sign of respect and love for the ocean she’s leaving behind.

Cricket is the national sport in Sri Lanka. Not only boys practice and play the sport at every opportunity and in every place. Girls and the children's fathers also take part. A beach after work is well suited. Here we see the pitcher ("Bowler"?). I pulled the camera with him as he threw and exposed for 1/3 of a second. Only the throwing arm came reasonably sharp, the rest is a nice ICM shot. Of the bat ("Batter" called?) you can only see the baton on the right edge of the picture.

These dhows are anchored off a small island near Zanzibar, Tanzania, and are part of the Blue Safari excursion. You can see a natural arch behind them. As part of the excursion, they served a fantastic seafood lunch on the beach. They use the motor only near land, then they raised the sail and took us to various points where there was beautiful water for swimming and snorkeling. You have to wade in hip deep to get to the dhows, so only beach wear for this excursion.
On the beach at Stone Town, Zanzibar, this dhow is being readied for the incoming tide. A large island in the Indian Ocean, Zanzibar put the "zan" in Tanzania. Zanzibar is just a few miles northeast of Dar es Salaam, the capital and the two are linked by ferry service.
