Fishing at Sundarbans

Sundarbans, The largest single block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world, located in the southwestern part of Bangladesh. It lies on the Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta at the point where it merges with the Bay of Bengal. It is also a center of economic activities, such as extraction of timber, fishing and collection of honey. The forest consists of about 200 islands, separated by about 400 interconnected tidal rivers, creeks and canals.

The nature of Sundarbans is really so different and so so amazing to enjoy. I think it is really unmatched by its God gifted incredible features. Every traveler in the world should make a visit to our Sundarbans for once minimum in their lifetime, not but it will be a subject of great affliction to life.

Flocks of Red-breasted parakeet over paddy field

Gumaibeel of Rangunia, a well-known Chittagong granary, is Bangladesh's second largest beel after the Chalan Beel. It has now been buzzing with the arrival of flocks of red-green parakeets.
During the season of ripe rice, everyday thousands of red-green parakeets gather here mostly in search of ripe rice and food.
Farmers estimate that 15,000-20,000 parakeets' dwell in one flock. They consume all of the rice on the land where they sit.
Farmers say that the parakeets eat the paddy in flocks most of the time beginning in the afternoon.

Prabarana Purnima

Probarona Purnima, the second largest festival of the Buddhist community. It is also known as ‘Ashwini Purnima’.

The word ‘Probarona’ comes from the Sanskrit language. The Pali form of the word ‘Probarona’ is ‘Pobarona’ - means ‘forbidding’, ‘completion of education’, ‘fulfilment of desires’, ‘satisfaction of hope’, ‘acceptance in the right way’, ‘acknowledgment of faults’, etc.

In all, Probarona means accepting the true and good deeds by rejecting the untruthful and unskilled deeds.

The ritual of Probarona is self-purification and accepting the true and the beautiful by rejecting evil. After the attainment of Gautama Buddha, Ashwini celebrated the festival of Probarona at the end of the three-month rainy season from Ashari to the date of the full moon. Since then, the day has been solemnly celebrated in Buddhist culture.
