Royal Scot no.46100 'Royal Scot' powers along the WCML through Apsley, Hertfordshire, England with 'The Irish Mail', in reality 'The Chairmans Train' ECS returning from Southall to Crewe after a private charter to Canterbury the day before. This working is to be the final one for 'Royal Scot' on the main line before the expiry of her current certificate, and apparently a move to Margate to be stored in the Hornby 1 to 1 collection 04/12/24.

25th June 2018. LMS 7P 4-6-0 No.46100 Royal Scot brings the afternoon train into Oxenhope from Keighley. To celebrate the Keighley And Worth Valley Railway running trains as a Preservation Society they held a special Gala called the 50th Anniversary Gala which would last eight days.
Royal Scot has a Thames-Clyde Express headboard which she may have worn in the 1960s. The Thames-Clyde Express was a named passenger train which ran on the Midland MainLine, Carlisle - Settle Railway, and the Glasgow South Western Line between London St Pancras and Glasgow St Enoch. Following the closure of Glasgow St Enoch in 1966, the service would continue to Glasgow Central instead.
25th June 2018. Fowler 7P 4-6-0 No.46100 Royal Scot climbs into Oxenhope with the 12.48 from Keighley. The train was top and tailed, to keep the time table in a reasonable state. On the other end and doing the honours out of Oxenhope was Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T No.41241. The line is part of the Keighley And Worth Valley Railway who had pulled out all the stops for their 50th Anniversary Gala by having an unprecedented 8 day Gala.
25th June 2018. On the 2nd day of the 8 day gala to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Keighley And Worth Valley Railway. LMS 7P 4-6-0 No.46100 Royal Scot emerges from the trees as she heads the 11.08 Keighley to Oxenhope service to the end of the line. The Royal Scot Class of engine were built between 1927 and 1930. 71 engines were built in this period but sadly only Royal Scot and Scots Guardsman have survived into preservation. Out of sight as she is at the back of the train is Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T No.41241.

25th June 2018. The sun shines on Haworth as the engines are prepped before the start of the 50th Anniversary Gala held at the Keighley And Worth Valley Railway. In the yard on your far left is BR 4MT 4-6-0 No.75078.
Next to the BR Standard 4 is the star of the gala, LMS 7P Royal Scot 4-6-0 No.46100 Royal Scot. Standing two roads to the right is LMS 5MT Black Five 4-6-0 No.45212. To the right of the Black 5 is SR WC West Country 4-6-2 No.34092 City Of Wells. City Of Wells is another guest locomotive and has come by kind permission of the East Lancashire Railway.
On the far right is an un-identified diesel shunter and another steam engine hiding behind the shunter. To the left of the shunter and in the shadow of City Of Wells on its right is resident KWVR engine Big Jim. Unfortunately USATC S160 2-8-0 No.5820 Big Jim would not be running in the gala, and I would have to wait a little longer to see her in action.
25th June 2018. You could be mis-taken for thinking that this photograph was taken in the afternoon. However, this is 2018 when we had the great heat wave and Haworth Locomotive Shed at the beginning of the day.
From left to right, we have BR 4MT 4-6-0 No.75078, LMS 7P Royal Scot 4-6-0 No.46100 Royal Scot, LMS 5MT Black Five 4-6-0 No.45212, SR West Country 4-6-2 No.34092 City of Wells and on the far right is USATC S160 2-8-0 No.5820 Big Jim. Royal Scot was going to be the star locomotive but there was going to be a strong supporting cast. You can see the volunteers giving the final touches to No.45212 before the day begins.
Royal Scot Class No.46100 ‘Royal Scot’ top & tailed with Class 47805 ‘Roger Hosking MA 1925 – 2013‘ is seen at Dutton Viaduct Acton Bridge with Saphos Trains "The Fellsman" 1Z67 Crewe to Carlisle.

On the 23rd November 2017 at York Station LMS 7P Royal Scot 4-6-0 No.46100 Royal Scot with the Christmas White Rose charter. While modern traction prevails on your left with a TransPennine Express to Middlesborough.
A bit early for Christmas in my book but on the 23rd November 2017 an Ealing Broadway to York Christmas White Rose charter nears its destination. The Network Rail building just outside York Station gives a fine Yorkshire welcome to LMS 7P Royal Scot 4-6-0 No.46100 Royal Scot and to everyone on the train.
