Like rolling Stones, 苔岩ゴロゴロ

This area is an ancient volcanic crater and is covered with volcanic rocks. The area receives over 4,000mm of rain per year, so vegetation is lush and green moss grows on the rocks. In rainy weather, the moss takes on a vibrant and beautiful color.

Rain of Gold by Michał Macura

Rain of Gold

Swamps and other wetlands are often seen as bleak, gloomy, and lifeless. But that couldn’t be further from the truth.

An alder swamp forest is one of the most beautiful landscapes in spring. The morning sun, not yet blocked by the dense canopy, shines through the alder catkins, turning them to gold among dark mossy trunks and tangled branches.

This wet forest teems with life. Every spring, the vegetation bursts forth, covering the forest floor in a vibrant green carpet. The tiniest insects live entire lives among fallen trunks. Flocks of small forest birds fill the air with song. Deer wander their hidden paths in search of fresh sprouts. And if you're lucky, you might even cross paths with the majestic moose.

This forest is a sanctuary. All are welcome here.

As is revealed by Google Street View data, this 1990 Foden 4400 has been sat seemingly unused in its owner's yard for at least eight years. Around 2020-21 the vehicle changed position, moving from one corner of the small compound to the other, but seems to just be gathering dust amongst other discarded machines and materials. Price Fallows are metal fabricators based in Shrewsbury, England, and the company has also indulged in the manufacture of canal boats in the past. What this Foden was, or perhaps still is used for is unclear.

Spring Flow by Julian Barker

Spring Flow

A spell of heavy rainfall in late May created the ideal opportunity for some moving water shots in Burbage Brook at Grindleford in the Peak District. I usually shoot this area when the autumn colours are at their finest, but on this occasion I thought that shooting the greenery of spring might offer an interesting alternative.
