An image taken up the North East at Sunderland, this is the wonderfully shaped Pier out to Roker Lighthouse.

This trip we had encountered what could only be described as 'bleak' conditions at the very best, but those sort of conditions actually help with this kind of image in keeping it highly minimal.

I'd only shot this location once before and wasn't 100% happy with the image due the amount of people coming and going along the Pier, I neededn't have worried about this time time though as the entire thing was fenced off due to some railings having been destreoyed in the recent storms it was obviously deemed unsafe until they are repaired.

I think I must have swapped shooting spots about 4 or 5 times to try and get this how I wanted it, with this being the end result, about 13 stops of filtration saw me coming out with an exposure time of 186 seconds with the histogram touching the right side, the long exposure, sea fog, and general gloom helping to create a sense of real isolation with the Pier and it's quirky red striped Lighthouse.

Haven’t done a monochrome post in a little while and was undecided what to post up, until I stumbled over this one, I took near the end of 2023 so I guess this a little archive. It was a wonder around in Storkow on a drizzly and misty evening, a long exposure that still came out dark so I brought in a slightly heavier contrast in processing and somewhat became a minimalist capture.

I hope everyone is well and as always, thank you! 😊

Same location as my last photo, more or less, I couldn’t believe my luck when I wanted to take an LE of these pylons and two vehicles spontaneously inter-crossed, not planned but fit well. I had walked for miles to get this shot in -13 degrees Celsius, but that’s what for the world will understand as a photographer is passion! Though I think have definitely worked off my post-Christmas bloat!

I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! 😊

Solar can that I made was zip tied to a tree next to a pond. I did not get the many of the reflections as I had wished and have gotten in the past.

When I was in TravemĂŒnde last year, I went for my usual walkabout which as always resulted in a hike for miles, as curiosity is my fuel and exploration the result, the photos thereafter an enjoyable bonus as well as the motivation. It was quite a mild night which was unexpected due to the Summer being in a state of El Niño, I came across this shipping yard, all lit up and dying for a Long Exposure. Next time I will pay more attention to the ADL, but I am happy enough.

I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! 😊

I walked for miles, literally chasing the moon, at my first lake, near Karlsluster, it had already moved too far over, so I walked toward it and to the larger lake expanse, only to be confronted with a jetty so covered with bird crap I had nowhere to setup my gear, and said moon had now moved even further over, so thus I walked on farther along a dirt track parallel to the lake, until I finally came to a clearing and then I swear time itself stopped.

I was being guided to this point, I took LE after LE after LE and I swear the moon stayed in this same spot, this incredible incoming energy and did you know clouds, air, nature simply responds, you can see the flow of the clouds enwrapping around this new portal; there was no one around me for miles, not even the sound of a distant car, completely isolated in this Light Operative download as I was supposed to be.

Everything felt like I was in an autonomous motion; by the way, I haven't done anything to the photo, that has come straight from camera to computer. What an incredible moment it was.

I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

From my night long walkabout in TravemĂŒnde, a warm night and I happened upon some cool environments, of which I would love to re-visit and get some better shots.

No real long story other than to say Merry Christmas to everyone and have a great holiday!

Hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

It was a really foggy night when I was walking my dog, only to get him home, grab my gear, run back out and... and... AND? The fog had already lifted to be replaced by drizzle. I was mightily pissed off, BUT, when reviewing this one shot it looked so apt for Halloween and so here it is, in the end worked out OK methinks, so on that note I wish everyone a Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone is well and so as always thank you! :)

PS; Oh and kids? Stay safe out there tonight, always test your sweets on your parents first, always worked for me ;)

My dear friends, is there such a thing as Photographer's Block? Somewhat akin to what writers get, I have recently been utterly de-motivated, no clue of what to do, creativity has upped and gone, every idea feels like a mountain to climb, moan, groan, boo hoo, bah bloody humbug, help!

My imagination is at the Final Frontier and I need to sit my spaceship and sulk until Christmas, I have really no idea what to do next. As for the photo, this is from my time in TravemĂŒnde, a very late night LE, looking over the Maritim hotel and entry to the bay. All in all it looked all rather a bit celestial, hence the name. And I admit I am a bit of Trekky, well, at least I was until the Woke brigade ruined it for everyone. Ho hum...

I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you!

Dramatic sky at Durdle Door

Back from a lovely week in Dorset with very mixed weather - got soaked to the skin lots of times, slid in mud etc etc - the joys of landscape photography!!! This was a very long exposure shot taken at sunset at Durdle Door - the clouds were amazing and I think this is my favourite shot (so far!) that I took. Hope you like it!!

This was meant to be a twenty minute exposure, however, the bay of TravemĂŒnde doubles as a main shipping lane for some very big commercial vessels, and it was a busy evening, every time I setup and started the exposure running, along would come one these chunk monkeys and of course. they're covered in lights, very bright lights, which would destroy my hopeful shot.

However, all that said, I was about 7 minutes into this exposure and I had to abandon it, as a Chemical Tanker was approaching from the left had side, I waited as long as I could then stopped it. When reviewing it I realised I had a more than good enough shot, in my opinion, personally I would have wanted slightly longer star trails but fate would have been settle for this.

I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

PS: That bright light next to the central red ones, is in fact a Stena Line passenger ship, which was several kilometres out, so you see what I mean. :)

A perfect night as a couple under the stars of the Milky Way - Brihuega (Guadalajara, Spain)

Brihuega is the perfect place to enjoy the colorful beauty of the wonderful Lavender flowers and the starry sky with the Milky Way. It is always more enjoyable on these summer nights in this invigorating and fragrant place, especially in good company. Definitely, this is a perfect place to indulge in photography, merging Lavender and stars. I hope you like it!
