The former building of insurance company Centraal Beheer, Apeldoorn, The Netherlands.

Openness, informality and connections were central design themes.

Design (1972): Herman Hertzberger.

From 2007 onwards, the complex slowly fell into disrepair, in spite of several rescue attempts, including one from the architect Hertzberger himself.

Now, the city of Apeldoorn has bought the building. Maybe that's the start of something good.

Paleis Het Loo was built on the edge of the Veluwe in 1686 as a royal hunting stay for King Willem II and Queen Mary. It has undergone many transformations and restorations since.

The latest is a large extension, partially underground, under the glass panes and the pond. This provides a special illumination underground.

Design (2017): KAAN Architects.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio

SUV's en crossovers zijn vaak niet de knapste modellen, maar de Stelvio - en zeker de Quadrifoglio - is een uitzondering.

Harderwijk, Nederland

SUVs and crossovers are often not the most attractive models, but the Stelvio - and certainly the Quadrifoglio - is an exception.

Protected II

The former building of insurance company Centraal Beheer, Apeldoorn, The Netherlands.
Original design (1972): Herman Hertzberger.
This section was added later: the so-called "Pakhoed-building" (design (1990): Kaman en Davidse).

From 2007 onwards, the complex slowly fell into disrepair, in spite of several rescue attempts, including one from the architect Hertzberger himself.
Now, the building sits behind fences and barbed wire, surrounded by signs saying "I am being protected", awaiting its final verdict...

Als ik dan een SUV zou moeten kiezen, zou het de Stelvio worden. Zo'n donkerblauwe Quadrifoglio als hierboven zou ik zeker niet afslaan.

If I had to choose an SUV, it would be the Stelvio. I certainly wouldn't say no to such a dark blue Quadrifoglio as above.

Fiat Marea 2.0 20v HLX (1997)

Zevenaar, Nederland

Approximately one million Mareas were produced between 1996 and 2007, but do you still see ever one? The 'top version' was parked in Zevenaar: a 2.0 with 147 hp in the HLX version, making it quite richly equipped with options.
