Emerald Hill (翡翠山) was once home to many often wealthy members of the Peranakan community in Singapore, such as Lim Boon Keng for example.
With the big malls of Orchard Road now towering over these conserved shophouses, it is often easy for them to be overlooked if not for renewed interest in recent years, such as the ongoing TV drama Emerald Hill - The Little Nyonya Story.
As such, the stone lion guardians that dot some of these shophouses are a constant reminder of our enduring heritage for future generations to witness and learn.
