A downtown department store from the mid-20th century is a parking garage now. by Tim Kiser

A downtown department store from the mid-20th century is a parking garage now.

Yea verily this used to be a McClurkan's department store in downtown Wichita Falls, Texas, said to have been built in 1969. I don't know what year it became a parking garage.

"But if all the downtown businesses are closed and converted to parking, what reason would we have to park our cars downtown?" complained the local motorists. Nah I'm just kidding, they weren't that thoughtful.

Look at those awning-style brise-soleils. It was 1969 and people were throwing money around all over the place.

For a parking ramp's driveway's overhang, a vinyl banner of Circle-P has weathered away. by Tim Kiser

For a parking ramp's driveway's overhang, a vinyl banner of Circle-P has weathered away.

Circle-P famously means parking in every language. To continue to display the banner in this condition is to perpetrate an urban blight upon the city of Winston-Salem.

According to Google Streetview, the banner was hung sometime between July 2018 and June 2019. It should be removed and not replaced, and the parking garage should be converted to comfortable-yet-inexpensive apartments.

The parking garage was built in 1972, the International Year of "My Ding-a-Ling" by Chuck Berry.

Hide your eyes from this postmodern condotower from 2002 in downtown Madison.

The worst things about the building are: the stupid sets of double columns on the trapezoidal balconies; the tan bricks; and the lazy cuteness of "acknowledging" the building's triangular lot by cutely sprinkling triangular projections all around. The best things about the building are idk idc.
