This was in northwest Indiana but it reminded me of central Indiana, southern Michigan, northwestern Ohio, places like that.

A precursor to rail privatisation - at a time when almost all passenger and freight traction was owned by British Rail, the Hunslet Barclay Class 20/9s provided some welcome variation. 20901 Nancy and 20904 Janis would tend to operate with the Nomix-Chipman weed killer train, with 20902 Lorna and 20903 Alison being paired with the other set. The locos, along with spares 20905 Iona and 20906 Georgina, were named after staff in the Hunslet Barclay office in Kilmarnock.
20904 Janis is pictured resting on a bright day in Norwich, with 20901 Nancy out of sight to the right.
Seeing a split-box Class 37 on the mainline has always been a welcome experience, even when in a heavily weathered state. EWS 37114 City of Worcester is pictured in Norwich with the AgrEvo weed killer train, working top and tailed with Transrail 37423 Sir Murray Morrison 1873-1948 Pioneer of British Aluminium Industry. At the time the loco was allocated to the ENTN - Mainline - Toton Class 31/37 (Infrastructure North) pool, although it moved north of the border to the WKMB - EWS Motherwell Class 37 (RETB) pool in November 1998. It was officially withdrawn in November 2007, and cut up at EMR Kingsbury in the following January.
Until the introduction of the Greater Anglia "short set", Class 37/4s were not associated with East Anglia, therefore seeing Transrail 37423 Sir Murray Morrison 1873-1948 Pioneer of British Aluminium Industry in Norwich with the AgrEvo weed killer train was a very welcome sight. EWS 37114 City of Worcester was at the other end of the set.
37423 became a regular visitor to Norwich under DRS ownership, operating the hugely popular branch services to Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft between 2015 and 2019. In January 2024 it was sold to Europhoenix.
