Peter has this negative in an envelope marked "Duddeston", seeing the 'V' on the platform lamp I wondered what was going on, then I remembered! of course the station was Vauxhall & Duddeston in the 1960's.
The picture is interesting because it shows the early stages of electrification and the old signals are about to be replaced by new colour lights. In the centre is a water column complete with a brazier basket, just to the right of the gantry Vauxhall & Duddeston signal box can be seen
The diesel shunter, D3775, was in shiny green paint and the rolling stock would have been in B.R. maroon.
D3775 was built at Derby Works, it entered service new to Rowsley 11/07/1959. Under TOPS it became 08608. The loco was withdrawn from Thornaby 07/11/1988 and cut at C.F. Booth (Rotherham) 13/04/1994. At the time of this picture it was an Aston 21D based machine.
