savoring a perfectly grilled squid atop a bed of creamy homemade mashed potatoes, complemented by fresh young spinach, at the renowned restaurant stay in port de pollença. this dish embodies the essence of Mediterranean cuisine, where simple, high-quality ingredients are prepared with finesse. the tender squid, with its subtle char and smoky flavor, pairs beautifully with the rich, buttery potatoes and the vibrant green spinach, creating a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. against the backdrop of the serene port, this culinary experience becomes a moment of pure delight and relaxation, celebrating the rich flavors of the sea and the land.
Couldn't resist getting a shot of this sailboat Saturday morning somewhere along the 101 highway in Washington. One of the inlets in the Puget Sound. This was taken before my longer stop at the mud flats. I had a bit of trouble finding a spot to get a clear shot of the boat, then realized my mistake and used the trees and brush I was fighting to frame my shot. Sometimes you gotta just stop and think about what you're trying to do.

One of the sight-seeing tour boats, tied up at Elgol Pier.
The sea here is a sea loch known as Loch Scavaig.
The Black Cuillin are in the background.
This area is so photogenic.
Note: Just watched "The Ridge" on 26.10.15, featuring this boat, a fantastic short film about a guy doing tricks on his mountain bike along the Cuillin ridge. You can see it on You-Tube. Highly recommended.
The "fairy" pools are on the northern side of the Black Cuillin, in Glen Brittle, on the Isle of Skye.
On the opposite side of the Cuillin, lies Loch Coruisk, and Loch Scavaig, then Elgol.
Its just a meandering river, that forms many small pools along its length as it makes its way down Glen Brittle.
Like Loch Coruisk, it has the backdrop of the mountains (the black Cuillin) to add dramatic effect to the scene.
Takes a good hike of 45 minutes (downhill at first, then a steady climb), to get to the pools.
I would say its worth it.
There is one person in the shot, deliberately left, just above the waterfall, to provide distance and scale into the shot.
It would be a 50` jump into the pool below...
A view of the beach at Elgol on the Isle of Skye.
It is very dramatic, depending on the tides that cover it, or expose it.
This is an expose.
The rocks are brilliant, and every time you look at them you see something different (e.g. the big boulder to the left of the picture, is like a statue from Easter Island, looking left to protect his beach - you get the picture).
He does protect his beach as he stands head and shoulders above all others on the beach.
He must be made of sterner stuff (after millions of years of tides pounding this beach...).
After a thousand million years of pounding, he still has a smile on his face.
Makes me feel very small indeed.
Taken in the evening as the tide was going out, and the sun was going down.
Peaceful and beautiful at the same time.
Great sunset, against Loch Scavaig and the Black Cuillin Mountains to the North.
HDR used in the shot.

Shot taken early morning late 2014, of a fishing boat heading towards Elgol Pier on Skye. The sea was dead calm, unusual for September in Scotland.
Elgol is so stunning (magical) as the sea heads across Loch Scavaig towards the Black Cuillin dropping into the sea.
Loch Coruisk is dead ahead, enclosed by the Cuillin, and only 30 minutes away by boat from Elgol.
It is a magical place at any time of day.
If you ever visit Skye, visit Elgol.
It will be worth it in so many ways.
Loch Coruisk on Skye is a truly magnificent setting for a Scottish loch as it's surrounded on 3 sides by the Black Cuillin, with Sgurr Alasdair (992m) dominating the skyline on the left hand side of the loch.
It is the highest Peak not on mainland Britain i.e. on an Island...
This shot was taken at the eastern shore of the loch, a small pebbly beach, on a glorious summers day, in late autumn 2014.
